HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Thomas M. Schultz on the occasion of his retirement from the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District after 29 years of dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Schultz earned his associate's degree in fire science from the College of DuPage in 2003; he subsequently earned his bachelor's degree in business management from Benedictine University in 2006; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Schultz began his career as a firefighter in 1978; he started his career as a fire cadet at John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights; he then became a fire fighter with the Elk Grove Township Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Schultz began his long tenure with the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District on July 2, 1982; in 1993, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant; in 2005, he was promoted to the rank of captain; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Schultz was a longtime member of the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District Dive Rescue Team, where he served as coordinator for many years; in 2004, he became the Fire Science Coordinator for the College of DuPage, where he continues to serve today; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Schultz became a licensed paramedic in 1986 and maintained his license until 1999; during his career, he obtained many State Certifications, including Haz Mat Awareness and First Responder, Certified Firefighter III, Fire Apparatus Engineer, Fire Officer I, II, and III, and Fire Prevention Officer; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Schultz was the recipient of many awards from the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District, including the Award of Merit in 1984,1989,1991,1994, and 2011, Company Citations in 2002, 2006, and 2009, and 2 individual citations in 1984; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Schultz has been married to his loving wife, Robin, since 1984; he has 3 children, Michael (wife, Dawn), Christopher, and Patrick; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Thomas M. Schultz on the occasion of his retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Thomas Schultz as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
