HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Janet Hasz,
4Executive Director of the Supportive Housing Providers
5Association in Chicago, on her retirement; and
 
6    WHEREAS, For the last ten years she has served as the
7Executive Director of the Supportive Housing Providers
8Association (SHPA), over 100 nonprofit organizations located
9throughout the State of Illinois that provide supportive
10housing to homeless individuals and families, who often also
11have special needs, such as mental illness or HIV/AIDS; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Under her leadership the Supportive Housing
13Providers Association has grown by more than 800% since going
14statewide in June of 2000; she has 27 years of leadership
15experience in the field of non-profit affordable housing; as
16executive director of a community-based development agency,
17she directed the rehabilitation of 500 units of family
18affordable rental housing and the new construction of 28
19award-winning affordable town homes; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Janet Hasz was born in Mt. Prospect; she has been
21a community activist in Chicago since 1982; her early career
22was teaching elementary school; and

1    WHEREAS, She received her Bachelor of Science degree in
2Education from Concordia College; she also received training in
3non-profit administration from the University of Illinois at
4Chicago's Center for Enterprise Development; and
 
5    WHEREAS, She received a Statewide Housing Action Coalition
6Golden Trowel Award in 2004 in recognition of her organization
7and advocacy work with the Supportive Housing Providers
8Association to secure State funding for services in supportive
9housing; for the International Homes 28-unit town home project
10completed in Uptown, she received honorable mention in the
11Fannie Mae and Social Impact housing development competitions
12and an American Institute of Architects Award; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we congratulate Janet Hasz on her retirement and wish her all
16the best in her future endeavors; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to Janet Hasz as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
