HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Neil Wagner on the
4occasion of his retirement on February 1, 2012, after 40 years
5of service as a union carpenter; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Neil Wagner was greatly influenced by his father,
7Doyle Wagner, who was a 50-year member of Local 640; after
8graduating from Pope County High School, he followed in his
9father's footsteps and became an apprentice; to accomplish this
10goal, he attended apprenticeship classes one night a week for 4
11years, during which he had perfect attendance; on February 2,
121972, he joined Carpenters Local 605 in Golconda, which was
13affiliated with the Three Rivers District Council of Paducah,
14Kentucky; and
 
15    WHEREAS, In 1976, Neil Wagner was hired as a carpenter
16instructor at the Golconda Job Corps Center, where he passed
17his knowledge of carpentry onto countless young students; in
182005, he left the Center with over 20 years of service and was
19hired as business agent for Local 640 in Metropolis; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Neil Wagner has held an elected office in the
21Carpenters Union for over 35 years; and

1    WHEREAS, Neil Wagner has made major contributions to the
2local business landscape throughout his career; he has worked
3on numerous projects, including Interstate 24, Portland
4Cement, Cook Coal Terminal, Shawnee Prison, and the Smithland
5Lock and Dam; for the past 6 years, he has represented the
6southernmost counties in Illinois; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Neil Wagner plans to spend his retirement on the
8family farm to work, hunt, fish, and spend time with his
9grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we congratulate Neil Wagner on the occasion of his retirement
13and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to Neil Wagner as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
