HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Sarah Salameh, an esteemed resident of Plainfield and a senior at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in Aurora, has achieved national recognition for exemplary volunteer service by receiving a 2012 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and

WHEREAS, This prestigious award, presented by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their communities; and

WHEREAS, Sarah Salameh earned this award by spending last summer volunteering with the environmental group SCARCE (School and Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting Education); much of Sarah's time was spent volunteering for the SCARCE Book Rescue by helping teachers in low-income schools select much-needed books and supplies; and

WHEREAS, The success of the State of Illinois, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young people like Sarah Salameh who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Sarah Salameh on being a recipient of a 2012 Prudential Spirit of Community Award, recognizing her outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and community spirit, and extend our best wishes for her continued success and happiness; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Sarah Salameh as a symbol of our esteem.
