HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Resurrection House began with 13 members meeting at Resurrection House Inc., a not-for-profit residential living facility for women reintegrating themselves back in mainstream society; these 13 members began a Tuesday night bible study and the vision began to grow and expand; and

WHEREAS, Pastor Marcus A. Randle began to look for a permanent place of worship and soon found 244 West 138th Street; on July 5, 2009, Resurrection House held its first Sunday morning worship service; and

WHEREAS, They were successful in launching a youth ministry, "Generation Next"; a weekly bible study for the youth was also started; the women's affairs ministry, entitled "Women on Fire for Christ" has grown by leaps and bounds reaching women from all walks of life; and

WHEREAS, "Men Resurrecting Men", a men's ministry was started by the church; discipleship training classes, intercessory prayer ministry, a recovery ministry, compassion ministry, and a young adult ministry, called "Atmosphere Changers For Christ" were also started; and

WHEREAS, Resurrection House Baptist Church has grown to a present congregation of 241 members in the last 2 years; through community outreach, the evangelism ministry E.A.G.L.E.S., and acts of kindness, the church meets the needs of the people in the area; and

WHEREAS, Resurrection House Baptist Church will celebrate from February 24-26, 2012 with special services and programs; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the congregation and pastor of Resurrection House Baptist Church on this special occasion; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Pastor Marcus Randle as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
