HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to honor Ray Wiedle for his work
4with the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight program; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ray Wiedle served his country with pride and
6distinction as a member of the United States Navy; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Ray Wiedle lived in Chatham for many years before
8moving to St. Ann, Missouri; after he moved, he became involved
9with Honor Flight though his real estate agent; he later
10participated as a guardian on a Franklin Country Honor Flight,
11where he met Springfield resident Bob Matteson; after going on
12the flight and talking with Bob, Mr. Wiedle decided that the
13central Illinois region, specifically Springfield, was
14underserved when it came to Honor Flights for veterans; and
 
15    WHEREAS, In January of 2009, in the midst of an ice storm,
16the first meeting to discuss an Honor Flight hub for central
17Illinois was convened; in February of 2009, the first public
18meeting was held at the Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport; in
19March of 2009, Land of Lincoln Honor Flight became a hub and
20was incorporated with the Honor Flight Network; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Under the guidance of Ray Wiedle, the Land of

1Lincoln Honor Flight hub has taken 13 flights and transported
2833 veterans, free of charge, to see their memorials dedicated
3to the service and sacrifice of all veterans of the United
4States of America; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ray Wiedle serves as a model of hard work,
6integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
7Illinois and veterans throughout the nation; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we honor Ray Wiedle for his work with the Land of Lincoln Honor
11Flight program and wish him continued success in his future
12endeavors; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to Ray Wiedle as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
