HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Donald Sevener on the occasion of his retirement as deputy director for external relations for the Illinois Board of Higher Education in December of 2011; and

WHEREAS, Donald Sevener has served with the Illinois Board of Higher Education since 1997; during his tenure there, he has excelled as the public spokesperson for the Board and as chief liaison to the General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, Donald Sevener has been involved in a leadership role in the development of the Illinois Public Agenda for College and Career Success, the State's blueprint for education policies to improve the student success and college completion of more Illinoisans, so that Illinois is ready to face its economic future with a well-educated and trained workforce; and

WHEREAS, Donald Sevener has established and maintained a professional and purposeful relationship with members of the General Assembly and their staff in order to establish effective policies and programs to implement the goals of the Illinois Public Agenda; and

WHEREAS, Donald Sevener, a trained journalist, reported on Statehouse activities for many years for numerous publications, including the Lindsay-Schaub Newspapers, the Illinois Times, and the Illinois Issues; and

WHEREAS, Donald Sevener served as an adjunct faculty member at Lincoln Land Community College, the University of Illinois at Springfield, and MacMurray College; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we thank Donald Sevener for his service to the citizens of the State of Illinois, especially to those who have been educated at Illinois' colleges and universities, and extend our best wishes to him in his retirement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Donald Sevener as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
