HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Kristen Langner on the occasion of being selected as the 2011 Joseph G. Salerno Business Person of the Year by the Roselle Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Kristen Langner is a lifelong resident of the Roselle/Medinah area; she grew up in Medinah, where she attended Trinity Lutheran School and Lake Park High School; Dr. Langner and her husband, Kevin Weslock, currently reside in Roselle; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Kristen Langner is the sole practitioner and owner of Langner Eye Care, which she opened in Roselle in 2005; after 5 years at her office on Irving Park Road, she renewed her commitment to practicing in Roselle and moved to a larger, modern office occupying a large space on Main Street in downtown Roselle; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Kristen Langner has been an active member of the Roselle Chamber of Commerce and Industry since opening her office; she regularly volunteers at the Chamber's Annual Golf Outing, the Taste of Roselle Bingo tent, and the Rose Parade; she also serves on the Roselle Chamber Scholarship Committee; her husband is currently serving his first term as Director on the Board of Directors for the Roselle Chamber; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Kristen Langner volunteers her time at Trinity Lutheran Church as a songleader in the praise band and serves as a member of the Mission Ministry; she is the co-founder and President of See to Read-Read to See, a not-for-profit mission that organizes Christian volunteers to give the gift of sight to people in Guatemala; since their first trip in 2010, her teams have provided over 2,500 vision screenings and have provided new eyeglasses, reading glasses, and protective sunwear to those in need; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Kristen Langner serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dr. Kristen Langner on the occasion of being selected as the 2011 Joseph G. Salerno Business Person of the Year and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Kristen Langner as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
