HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Leo R. Finley Jr. of Orland Park, who passed away on August 26, 2011; and

WHEREAS, He was a graduate of the Chicago College of Dental Surgery/Loyola University Class of 1963; he was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a captain in the Dental Corps from 1963 to 1965; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Finley enjoyed a long career in dentistry in Chicago's south suburbs; he also taught at the Loyola University Dental School; in the South Suburban Branch of the Chicago Dental Society, he held all offices before his term as president in 1972-1973; and

WHEREAS, He was later elected to the Chicago Dental Society Board of Directors, and served as its president from 1989 to 1990; and

WHEREAS, On the state level, he was elected as vice speaker of the Illinois State Dental Society's House of Delegates and chaired the Dent-IL-PAC Governor's Club; and

WHEREAS, On the national level, he represented Illinois dentists in the American Dental Association's House of Delegates from 1986 to 1988 and from 1996 to 1997; he was elected 8th District Trustee in 1998; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Leo Finley Jr. was the beloved husband of Alicia, nee Jakubas, for 50 blessed years; he was the loving father of Leo III (Brenda), Timothy (Donna), Allen (Laurie), Suzanne Duntz, and Paul (Laura); he was the proud grandpa of 13 and great-grandpa of 3; he was the brother of Joan Finley and Alice (Dr. James) Wack; and the uncle of 10 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dr. Leo R. Finley Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Leo R. Finley Jr. as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
