HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Robert M. Martens on his retirement as CEO of the Family Service and Community Mental Health Center of McHenry County; and

WHEREAS, Family Service has been a part of McHenry County's landscape for 51 years, and Robert Martens has been a vital part of the agency's growth for 33 of those years; and

WHEREAS, Family Service began as a simple out-patient in-office counseling service and today offers a variety of services, including home-based therapy services, community support services, school-based services, intensive outpatient services for both mental health and substance abuse disorders, psychosocial rehabilitation services for adults suffering from serious mental illness, child and adult psychiatric services, early intervention, and numerous other specialized services; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Martens served as President of the Village of Spring Grove for many years; he is a member of the Rotary Club of Crystal Lake; and he is an active member of the Richmond Spring Grove Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, Through his work with the Family Service and Community Mental Health Center, he promoted the Center and led to the Center joining with 10 Chambers of Commerce throughout the area as well as the McHenry County Economic Development Corporation; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Martens recently announced his retirement, which will take place in the Spring of 2011; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Robert Martens on his work with the Family Service and Community Mental Health Center and wish him the best in his retirement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Robert Martens as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
