HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, U.S. News & World Report reviewed nearly 5,000 hospitals in 16 adult specialties and 10 pediatric specialties in order to determine the country's "Best Regional Hospitals"; and

WHEREAS, Of 53 hospitals in the St. Louis/Illinois metropolitan area, 15 hospitals were listed as the best hospitals; and

WHEREAS, To be recognized as a "Best Regional Hospital", a hospital must score in the top 25% among its peers in at least one of 16 medical specialties; and

WHEREAS, Anderson Hospital is a general medical and surgical hospital in Maryville; it performed nearly at the level of nationally ranked "U.S. News Best Hospitals" in one adult specialty; and

WHEREAS, Anderson Hospital is a 151 bed not-for-profit facility with over 1,000 staff members, 240 medical staff members, and over 200 members of the auxiliary; and

WHEREAS, Anderson Hospital had 7,732 admissions in the most recent year for which data is available; it performed 2,844 annual inpatient and 8,683 outpatient surgeries; Anderson's emergency room had 33,476 visits and is accredited by the Joint Commission (JC) and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF); and

WHEREAS, U.S. News & World Report ranked Anderson Hospital as the 12th "Best Regional Hospital" in the St. Louis/Illinois metropolitan area; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Anderson Hospital for its achievements and exemplary work resulting in obtaining the U.S. News & World Report ranking as the "12th Best Regional Hospital"; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Anderson Hospital as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
