HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Bank of Herrin President Carl Goodwin on his retirement; and

WHEREAS, He began his career working after school in the bookkeeping department of the bank; after college and 2 years serving with the United States Army, he worked at The Bank of Egypt in Marion, working through the ranks from assistant cashier, to cashier, to Vice President and Cashier; and

WHEREAS, He joined the Bank of Herrin in October of 1990 as vice president and cashier; he became executive vice president and CEO, trust officer and when his father stepped down as president, was promoted to president and trust officer; and

WHEREAS, Carl Goodwin is a graduate of the Illinois Banks Association Banking School at Southern Illinois University, the ABA Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin, the Cannon Trust School, and the ABA National Trust School at Northwestern University; and

WHEREAS, He will serve as President Emeritus and bank director and will be available if needed during the transition process; and

WHEREAS, He will spend more time with his wife, Cookie, upon retirement, enjoying time with their children and grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Carl Goodwin on his retirement and wish him all the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Carl Goodwin as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
