HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Reverend Larry D.
4Lewis, pastor, and the congregation of Bethel African Methodist
5Episcopal Church in Champaign, as they host the Illinois North
6District Conference; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Illinois North District of the African
8Methodist Episcopal Church consists of 18 churches from
9Illinois and Iowa, and is under the leadership of The Reverend
10Tyson J. Parks, Presiding Elder; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The Conference will be held from April 13, 2011 to
12April 16, 2011 at the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal
13Church; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church was
15founded in 1863 and is a leading religious institution that
16provides spiritual, moral, and religious leadership in the
17community; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church
19performs much important work within the community; it
20financially supports such projects as Empty Tomb, the Women in
21Transition Shelter, and the Martin Luther King Scholarship

1Fund, and sponsors children from the Don Moyer Boys and Girls
2Club of Greater Champaign; and
 
3    WHEREAS, The leaders and congregation of the Bethel African
4Methodist Episcopal Church, through their exemplary faith,
5hard work, and generosity, contribute greatly to the people of
6the Champaign and Urbana communities and this State; therefore,
7be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we congratulate everyone involved in the Illinois North
11District Conference and wish them success and inspiration; and
12be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to Reverend Tyson J. Parks and Reverend Larry D.
15Lewis as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
