HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Joseph Novotny on the occasion of his retirement after many years of service with the Illinois Department of Transportation; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Novotny began his career with the Illinois Department of Transportation in April of 1980 as a Maintenance Highway Maintainer; in May of 1982, he moved to the position of Emergency Traffic Patrol Emergency Patrol Driver, where he remained until February of 2001, when he became the Emergency Traffic Patrol Lead Worker; in May of 2002, he was promoted to the position of Emergency Traffic Patrol Lead Lead Worker; in December 2005, he was promoted to the position of Engineer Tech V for Maintenance/Bridges; in April of 2009, he returned to the position of Emergency Traffic Patrol Lead Lead Worker, where he remained until his retirement on March 31, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Novotny served as an Rosemont Auxiliary Policeman from June of 2006 to November of 2009; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Novotny received his Commercial Driver's License in 1982; that same year, he earned his EMT Medical Training degree from Columbus Hospital; in 1999, he became a certified Realtor through Century 21; in 2002, he earned his HAZMAT Certification; in 2009, he earned his Certification from Wreckmaster; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Novotny married his loving wife, Cheryl, at his aunt's house in Villa Park on November 29, 1980; together, they had two children, Becky and Nick; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Novotny coached baseball and softball in Park Ridge for many years; he has also served as a Eucharistic Minister at Mary Seat of Wisdom in Park Ridge; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Novotny serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Joseph Novotny on the occasion of his retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Joseph Novotny as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
