HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Ted Little for
4receiving the "2012 Best School Blood Drive Coordinator Award"
5from the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; and
 
6    WHEREAS, In 2001, Ted Little began overseeing the
7organization of annual blood drives at the Universal Technical
8Institute in Glen Dale Heights; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Prior to each drive, Ted ensures that the students
10in 33 classes at UTI are visited by Heartland Blood Center
11recruiters along with himself, so students understand the
12importance of voluntary blood donation; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ted works over 14 hours the day of the blood
14drives starting at 6:00 a.m. by welcoming the set-up team,
15cheering on donors throughout the day, and staying until after
16the last donation is collected at 7:30 p.m. and the collection
17team is ready to leave; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Under Ted's leadership, blood drives at UTI have
19expanded to the point were 2 mobile coaches are needed in
20addition to the 19 collection beds set up inside the facility,
21along with 50 Heartland employees to keep up with the

1overwhelming number of donors he recruits; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Ted's most recent 2012 blood drive brought in 326
3units of blood including 219 first time donors; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Ted has been responsible for the collection of
5over 4000 units of blood at UTI during the past 11 years; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The results of Ted's efforts will continue to be
7seen for years to come because of the critical role school
8blood drives play in cultivating lifetime donors; and
 
9    WHEREAS, In 2012, Heartland Blood Centers nominated Ted
10Little as the "Best School Blood Drive Coordinator" in a
11state-wide competition hosted by the Illinois Coalition of
12Community Blood Centers; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we commend Ted Little for his selfless service to his community
16and his strong commitment to his students; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to Ted Little as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
