HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jack R. Wilson on
4the occasion of his 100th birthday; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Wilson was born at home in Chicago on
6February 25, 1911; in 1951, he moved to his Mound Street home
7in Willow Springs with his wife, Helen, and his daughters, Judy
8and Nancy; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jack Wilson served his country with pride and
10distinction, attaining the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army's
11202nd Battalion before he was honorably discharged in 1942; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jack Wilson has been actively involved in the
13American Legion Post 832, William R. Edmondson in Willow
14Springs, serving as a Commander of the post and now as the
15post's Adjutant; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jack Wilson continues to be an active and proud
17member of the neighboring Lemont VFW; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jack Wilson has been actively involved in the
19Village of Willow Springs and surrounding communities as an
20avid bowler, pool player, and sportsman dating back to his days

1as a member of the Hamilton Park Flash; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Jack Wilson diligently served the public for 36
3years as a driver for the Chicago Rapid Transit Company and the
4Chicago Transportation Authority, working out of the 69th
5Street Depot; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jack Wilson has honorably exhibited the qualities
7and values of a true American through his love of country, his
8love of the American flag, and his protection of family values;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jack Wilson has remained a proud example of his
11Scottish heritage, being an active member of the Clan Gunn; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jack Wilson was born the same year as the
13invention of the traffic light and has witnessed such events as
14the first movie film and the first Chicago Blackhawks game, but
15still has not lived long enough to see his Chicago Cubs win the
16World Series; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19we congratulate Jack R. Wilson on the occasion of his 100th
20birthday and wish him many happy and healthy years to come; and
21be it further

2presented to Jack Wilson as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
