HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Gower Middle School on being recognized as a 2012 Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education; and

WHEREAS, The National Blue Ribbon Schools program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students' levels of academic achievement; a National Blue Ribbon Schools flag waving overhead has become a trademark of excellence and a symbol of quality recognized by everyone from parents to policy-makers in thousands of communities; and

WHEREAS, The celebration of Gower Middle School's achievement will take place at the 30th anniversary of the National Blue Ribbon School awards ceremony on November 12-13, 2012, in Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, Gower Middle School is in Burr Ridge; its principal is Tracy Murphy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Gower Middle School on being named a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Gower Middle School as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
