HOUSE RESOLUTION 120

WHEREAS, Through careful energy conservation planning and the use of guaranteed performance contracts, Eastern Illinois University has the lowest energy cost per square foot of all public universities in this State, has reduced water usage by 48%, has reduced overall campus energy by 20%, and has reduced CO2 emissions by 29%; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that each public university in this State shall report to the General Assembly on or before January 1, 2012 on its efforts with respect to the use of energy and water at its facilities and have a target goal of reducing its expense footprint for power, gas, and water consumption by at least 15% within 2 years or show how it has previously met this goal; and be it further

RESOLVED, That this report shall also include how much each university's total power, gas, and water bills are and how much savings would be generated by its ongoing efforts to achieve the 15% target goal if that is more than its current efforts; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be delivered to the board of trustees of each public university in this State.
