HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kim Presbrey of Aurora, who passed away on May 26, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Kim Presbrey was born on July 1, 1951, in Aurora; his parents were Betty and George Presbrey; he graduated from West Aurora High School in 1969, Northwestern University in 1973, and Vanderbilt Law School in 1976; after graduation, he practiced law with his father at Presbrey and Presbrey and became principal owner of the firm after his father's retirement; and

WHEREAS, Kim Presbrey was the managing partner of Presbrey & Associates and practiced workers' compensation law since 1977; he also served as president of Illinois Futures, Inc., a scholarship program for children of disabled workers, for 10 years and was the founder and Chairman of the Board of Doctors Direct, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Kim Presbrey was a past president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Workers' Compensation Lawyers Association, the Illinois State Bar, American Trial Lawyers, the Workplace Injury Litigation Group, and the Kane County Bar Association; he was also the founder of the Kane County Bar Association's Workers' Compensation Section; and

WHEREAS, Kim Presbrey was the co-author of the LexisNexis Illinois Workers' Compensation Guidebook; and

WHEREAS, Kim Presbrey was a member of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association, the Illinois chapter of NAVHDA, the AOPA, and EEA; he also worked with the Illinois Conservation Foundation for many years; and

WHEREAS, Kim Presbrey enjoyed hunting and fishing, nature, traveling, flying, and walking with his dog, Hershey; and

WHEREAS, Kim Presbrey is survived by his wife, Colleen; his sons, Kenton (fiancee, Kelly Johnson) and Kevin; and his brother, Tom (Laurie) Presbrey, and his children, Joseph, Scott, and Kara; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Kim Presbrey; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kim Presbrey as an expression of our sympathy.
