HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Michael Einig on
4the occasion of attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout; at
515 years of age, he is a young Eagle Scout; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Michael Einig joined the Cub Scouts upon entering
7as a Tiger in the first grade; he earned the highest rank in
8Cub Scouts, the Arrow of Life, as a member of Pack 100; he
9currently is in Troop 392 of Our Saviour's United Methodist
10Church in Schaumburg; and
 
11    WHEREAS, To become an Eagle Scout, Michael fulfilled the
12Boy Scouts of America requirements of the ranks of Tenderfoot,
13Second Class, First Class, Star, and Life; along the way, he
14earned 12 required merit badges and 9 elective merit badges,
15served in troop leadership positions for a total of 16 months,
16and spent at least 13 hours on service projects, not including
17the many hours he spent on his Eagle Scout service project; and
 
18    WHEREAS, He has completed approximately 325 different
19requirements; as a Boy Scout, he served as a Den Chief in Pack
20100 for 4 years; he was elected and inducted into the national
21Boy Scout Honor Society, the Order of the Arrow, the first year
22he was eligible; and

1    WHEREAS, His Eagle project benefited veterans and their
2families; first, he organized a "Hike for Heroes" Memorial Day
3weekend, 2011; he held an opening ceremony with the Schaumburg
4American Legion Post 1983 and raised $3,200; the money was used
5to purchase materials to build a Garden of Gratitude at the
6Hines Veterans Administration Hospital Fisher House; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Hines Veterans Administration Hospital Fisher
8House is a place for families of veterans receiving medical
9treatment to stay free of charge; his garden has a bench and
10arbor along with beautiful flowers and a granite marker that is
11engraved with these words: "Garden of Gratitude: with sincere
12appreciation for the sacrifices you have made to support the
13men and women who served our country"; and
 
14    WHEREAS, In total, 103 volunteers worked on this project
15353 hours; in addition to the garden, he presented the staff
16with a check for $1,900 to be used to purchase additional items
17needed for the families that stay at Fisher House; and
 
18    WHEREAS, As a result of his project, Michael was awarded
19the Schaumburg Area Special Veterans Special Award on Memorial
20Day, 2011 for his outstanding support of our nation's veterans;

1    WHEREAS, Michael Einig serves as a model of hard work,
2integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
3Illinois; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6we congratulate Michael Einig on the occasion of attaining the
7coveted rank of Eagle Scout and wish him continued success and
8happiness in the future; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to Michael Einig as a symbol of our esteem and
11respect.
