HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Zara Johnson on being named Mrs. Illinois on February 11, 2011; and

WHEREAS, She competed in various categories, which are the same as the events in the Mrs. America competition; and

WHEREAS, She had only three weeks to prepare for the Mrs. Illinois pageant, which was held at the Bolingbrook Performing Arts Center and came with $15,000 in prizes; and

WHEREAS, She is now making preparations to attend the national Mrs. America Pageant at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, which will be held from March 31 to April 15, 2011; and

WHEREAS, The Mrs. America pageant features contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia; it will be televised on April 15, 2011; and

WHEREAS, A Mrs. Illinois has never won the national crown, but they have twice taken the second runner-up spot, including last year; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson is employed by Cicero's Development Corporation of Plainfield, where she has worked for 21 years; and

WHEREAS, The new Mrs. Illinois is married to Hank Johnson, and has two sons and two grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Zara Johnson on her outstanding achievement in being named Mrs. Illinois for 2011, and we join with her friends and family in wishing her continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Zara Johnson as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
