HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate and thank the members of the Alliance of Local Service Organizations (ALSO) for the work they have done to save children's lives through the Annual Walk for Peace; and

WHEREAS, The members of ALSO have dedicated themselves to ending violence in all of its forms, and to helping those who have been affected by violence in numerous ways; the group's annual Peace Walk is one of the many ways in which ALSO calls attention to this growing problem; and

WHEREAS, The theme of this year's Peace Walk is Preventing Children's Exposure to Violence and will focus on those younger children who are witnesses to multiple forms of violence in the streets and homes of Chicago and beyond; and

WHEREAS, ALSO's 17th Annual Walk for Peace will be held on June 2, 2012, starting at 10 AM; the walk's participants will walk from Moos Elementary School in Humboldt Park to Yates Elementary School in Logan Square; and

WHEREAS, The members of ALSO serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate and thank the members of the Alliance of Local Service Organizations for the work they have done to save children's lives and wish them continued success in their future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Alliance of Local Service Organizations as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
