HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Natalie
4Rosenthal Seltzer of Park Ridge and Chicago, who passed away on
5April 28, 2012; and
 
6    WHEREAS, She was born August 12, 1921; she was a life-long
7Chicagoan and a 35-year resident of Park Ridge; and
 
8    WHEREAS, She studied at the University of Chicago, earning
9an A.B. degree in 1944 and a Masters degree from the School of
10Social Service Administration in 1948; while a student at the
11University of Chicago she met her husband of over 50 years,
12Arthur Owen Seltzer, who was her economics instructor; and
 
13    WHEREAS, She devoted her life to helping others; she was
14appointed as an instructor at the University of Illinois
15Chicago Campus in 1956 and as Professor and Head of the
16Department of Medical Social Work in 1977, a position she held
17until 1988, when she returned to the faculty; and
 
18    WHEREAS, In retirement, she became absorbed in her passions
19of travel and the arts, in particular the Lyric Opera of
20Chicago; and

1    WHEREAS, Natalie Seltzer was the daughter of Hyman and Eva
2Rosenthal, who predeceased her; she is survived by her loving
3sister, Muriel Busch; her niece; and 4 nephews; therefore, be
4it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of
8Natalie Seltzer; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Natalie Seltzer as a symbol of our
11sincere sympathy.
