HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Rosemoor Community Association, Roseland Heights Association, and the Developing Community Project on the dedication of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Bridge at 99th and 100th Streets and King Drive; and

WHEREAS, The dedication was held on August 27, 2011; and

WHEREAS, The Rosemoor Community Association, the Roseland Heights Community Association, and the Developing Community Project worked together as the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Gateway Initiative to create a community gateway over the Bishop Ford Expressway in Chicago, between 99th and 100th Streets on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive; and

WHEREAS, The plans included a memorial honoring Dr. King on both the North and South side of the bridge as well as welcoming people into the Roseland community; and

WHEREAS, The dedication coincided with the unveiling of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C., on August 28, 2011; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Rosemoor Community Association, the Roseland Heights Association, and the Developing Community Project on the dedication of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Bridge; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Rosemoor Community Association, the Roseland Heights Association, and the Developing Community Project as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
