HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in the lives of Illinois citizens; and

WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mary L. Haynes is retiring from the City of Peoria as the City Clerk; and

WHEREAS, Mary L. Haynes was born in Peoria Heights on July 17, 1942; she earned the designation of Master Municipal Clerk from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks and holds both the Certified Municipal Clerk and Registered Clerk designations; and

WHEREAS, Mary has been an employee of the City of Peoria for 32 years and has served as the City Clerk and co-terminus Township Clerk for the last 27 years; Mary began her career with the City of Peoria in 1980 as a staff member in the clerk's office before being elected as Clerk in 1985; and

WHEREAS, Mary is currently Chair of the Municipal Clerks of Illinois' Legislative Committee and the Rediscovering Peoria City Hall Committee, a Trustee and Board Secretary of the Firemen's Pension Board, and a member and Past President of the Municipal Clerks of Illinois (MCI); Mary has also served her community by offering her leadership to the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), Central Illinois Municipal Clerks Organization (CIMCO), Illinois Municipal League (IML), Trot for Tots, and the City's Speakers' Bureau; and

WHEREAS, Her commitment to her profession has been exemplified by her receipt of the IIMC's highest award, the prestigious Quill, and 3 CIMCO Presidents' Awards; and

WHEREAS, She co-founded the Central Illinois Municipal Clerks Organization (CIMCO) in 1988, brought the paperless agenda to the City of Peoria, made the Council Agenda available on the web, computerized the Council Records Index and Liquor Licensing Operations, and developed several seminars furthering the education and professional development of central Illinois' municipal offices; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are joined in recognizing the retirement of Mary L. Haynes by her family; her son, Eric, her daughter, Kris, her grandson, Calvin, and her grandson, Alex; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Mary Haynes and wish her all the best in her retirement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this Resolution be presented to Mary Haynes as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
