HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in
4the lives of Illinois citizens; and
 
5    WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mary L. Haynes
6is retiring from the City of Peoria as the City Clerk; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Mary L. Haynes was born in Peoria Heights on July
817, 1942; she earned the designation of Master Municipal Clerk
9from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks and holds
10both the Certified Municipal Clerk and Registered Clerk
11designations; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Mary has been an employee of the City of Peoria
13for 32 years and has served as the City Clerk and co-terminus
14Township Clerk for the last 27 years; Mary began her career
15with the City of Peoria in 1980 as a staff member in the
16clerk's office before being elected as Clerk in 1985; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Mary is currently Chair of the Municipal Clerks of
18Illinois' Legislative Committee and the Rediscovering Peoria
19City Hall Committee, a Trustee and Board Secretary of the
20Firemen's Pension Board, and a member and Past President of the
21Municipal Clerks of Illinois (MCI); Mary has also served her

1community by offering her leadership to the International
2Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), Central Illinois
3Municipal Clerks Organization (CIMCO), Illinois Municipal
4League (IML), Trot for Tots, and the City's Speakers' Bureau;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Her commitment to her profession has been
7exemplified by her receipt of the IIMC's highest award, the
8prestigious Quill, and 3 CIMCO Presidents' Awards; and
 
9    WHEREAS, She co-founded the Central Illinois Municipal
10Clerks Organization (CIMCO) in 1988, brought the paperless
11agenda to the City of Peoria, made the Council Agenda available
12on the web, computerized the Council Records Index and Liquor
13Licensing Operations, and developed several seminars
14furthering the education and professional development of
15central Illinois' municipal offices; and
 
16    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
17Representatives are joined in recognizing the retirement of
18Mary L. Haynes by her family; her son, Eric, her daughter,
19Kris, her grandson, Calvin, and her grandson, Alex; therefore,
20be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1we honor Mary Haynes and wish her all the best in her
2retirement; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this Resolution be
4presented to Mary Haynes as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
