HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Patricia A. Harris-Brown on the occasion of her retirement on June 2, 2012, after many years of service as a 1st grade teacher at Lilly-Freeman Elementary School in East St. Louis; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Harris-Brown was educated in School District 189 and graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School; she furthered her studies at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, where she earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education and her master's degree in counselor's education; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Harris-Brown attended school in School District 189, excelled, and was employed by the district in 1976; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Harris-Brown serves as an example of teachers who gave back to the district and made education and learning an exciting and rewarding experience for her students; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Harris-Brown has inspired thousands of students in East St. Louis throughout her 36 1/2 years of teaching in the district; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Harris-Brown will always cherish some of the greatest experiences she has had with her students over the years and the lives she has touched; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Harris-Brown is looking forward to retirement and the rich experiences that await her outside the classroom; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Patricia A. Harris-Brown on her retirement and wish her all the best in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Patricia Harris-Brown as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
