HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Donna Kei Lewis on the occasion of her retirement as a teacher in East St. Louis School District #189; and

WHEREAS, Donna Lewis is the daughter of Marcella Lewis Phillips and Ronald L. Brown; she grew up in East St. Louis and was educated in School District #189; after attending Dunbar School, Webster School, and Rock Junior High School, she graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School in 1974; she subsequently received her bachelor's degree in education from Southern Illinois University in 1978 and her master's degree in education from McKendree University in 2005; and

WHEREAS, During high school, Donna Lewis was employed at the Catholic Day Care Program and Lessie Bates Neighborhood House during school hours; in 1979, she began working for the City of Clayton, Missouri at the Social Security Office; later that year, she was hired to teach children in East St. Louis School District #189, where she has served pride and distinction for 34.7 years; and

WHEREAS, Donna Lewis serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Donna Kei Lewis on the occasion of her retirement and wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Donna Lewis as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
