HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Donald F. Flynn of Chicago, who recently passed away; and

WHEREAS, He was a graduate of Leo High School and Marquette University and began his career as an accountant; and

WHEREAS, He began a 15-year stint with Waste Management in 1972, holding positions that included chief financial officer, senior vice president, and director; in 1987, he and 2 other former Waste Management executives acquired controlling interest in the video rental business Blockbuster; he founded LKQ Corporation in 1998; the $2.8 billion recycled auto parts business, is named for the industry term "like, kind and quality"; and he was the major shareholder of Emerald Casino; and

WHEREAS, He was among a dedicated cadre of alumni whose support has been key to the survival of Leo High School, a Catholic school on the Southside of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Donald Flynn was the beloved husband and best friend of Beverly; the dear father of Kevin (Susan), Brian (Michelle), and Dereck Millington, who was like a son; the dear Bumpa of Donnie, Shannon, Brendan, Katie, and Dylan; and the fond brother of Robert (Patricia) Flynn and the late Marilyn; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Donald Flynn; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Flynn as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
