HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Jeff McBride for his many accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, Jeff McBride has lived in the Waukegan area most of his life; he is a graduate of Waukegan High School; and

WHEREAS, Jeff McBride was employed with the City of Waukegan as a supervisor in the Public Works Department, where he was employed for over 25 years; he also worked at the Waukegan Park District as a basketball referee for over 22 years and as a coach for 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Jeff McBride currently serves as a trustee in Waukegan Township; he served as a board member for Waukegan Public Schools for 8 years; he also served on the Board of Citizens Against Drugs and Alcohol program, the Advisory Board for the Waukegan Library, and the Coalition to Recidivism and has been an active leader of the Boys to Men's Series; and

WHEREAS, Jeff McBride is the founder of "Southside Positive Youth", an organization that provides after school and summer activities for low-income youth; through his organization, he serves as a surrogate father, spending countless hours of his time teaching life skills, mentoring, and using his personal assets to take youth to sporting events, the Universal Soul Circus, plays, roller skating, concerts, and many other social affairs, in order to expose them to a life that they probably would not have experienced otherwise; and

WHEREAS, Jeff McBride is an active and dedicated member of North Shore Church of Christ; and

WHEREAS, Jeff McBride was the recipient of the 2010 Community Service Award from the Lake County Juneteenth Culture Committee in recognition of his community service; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Jeff McBride for his many accomplishments, thank him for his great dedication to the welfare of the citizens of this State, and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jeff McBride as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
