HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate James Casey on the occasion of his retirement as Director of the Oak Lawn Public Library; and

WHEREAS, James Casey earned his Ph.D. in librarianship from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio; and

WHEREAS, James Casey began his career at the Oak Lawn Public Library on March 1, 1992; prior to his tenure at the Oak Lawn Public Library, he served as head librarian at the Ohio Historical Society, head reference librarian at Western Reserve Historical Society, an assistant reference librarian at Cleveland Public Library, and Director of the Pickaway County District Public Library in Circleville, Ohio; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure at the Oak Lawn Public Library, James Casey has been instrumental in numerous improvements to the library, including the initiation of the Employee Position Reclassification Project, the formulation and implementation of the library's Long Range Plan, several significant construction and revenue-generation projects, the development of the library's Computer Center, Art Gallery, and Local History Unit, the installation and development of the library's network and webpage, and the procurement of grants from DCEO for the Space Planning Project in 2006 and for the Youth Service Department and the Remodeling of the Meeting Room Washrooms in 2010; he also planned and participated in meetings between local state legislators, library administrators, the Community Library Foundation Board and chamber of commerce members and maintained positive relationships with the Library Board, the Friends of the Library, and the Village of Oak Lawn; and

WHEREAS, A retirement reception will be held in honor of James Casey and his work on June 15, 2012 from 2 - 4 P.M. at the Oak Lawn Public Library; and

WHEREAS, James Casey serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate James Casey on the occasion of his retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to James Casey as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
