1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The bomb and mine disposal profession was created
3 in April 1941; and

4     WHEREAS, Members of explosive ordnance disposal
5 organizations perform a dangerous and selfless task often
6 without recognition, risking their lives on behalf of the
7 United States of America; and

8     WHEREAS, The United States will forever be in debt to
9 personnel in the profession of explosive ordnance disposal for
10 their bravery and sacrifice in times of peace and war; and

11     WHEREAS, People in the United States should express their
12 recognition and gratitude for members of the explosive ordnance
13 disposal profession; and

14     WHEREAS, The first Saturday in May would be an appropriate
15 date to observe as National Explosive Ordnance Disposal Day;
16 therefore, be it

17     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19 we support the federal designation of National Explosive
20 Ordnance Disposal Day to honor those who are serving and have

1 served in the noble and self-sacrificing profession of
2 explosive ordnance disposal in the United States Armed Forces.
