SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

325 ILCS 5/4.6 new

Amends the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act. Requires any person who witnesses a sex offense committed against a child, as such sex offenses are defined in the Criminal Code of 1961, to immediately report the offense to the appropriate local law enforcement agency. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning children.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act is amended by adding Section 4.6 as follows:

(325 ILCS 5/4.6 new)

Sec. 4.6. Sex offense against a child; witness reporting requirement. Any person who witnesses a sex offense committed against a child, as such sex offenses are defined in the Criminal Code of 1961, shall immediately report the offense to the appropriate local law enforcement agency.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
