SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

305 ILCS 5/12-4.45 new

Amends the Administration Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that subject to any exemptions provided under federal law, to be eligible for public assistance benefits under any Article of the Code an applicant's immigration status must be verified through the federal Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) Program.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by adding Section 12-4.45 as follows:

Sec. 12-4.45. Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) Program; immigration status. Subject to any exemptions provided under federal law, to be eligible for public assistance benefits under any Article of this Code an applicant's immigration status must be verified through the federal Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) Program.
