SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
805 ILCS 105/108.90 new

    Amends the General Not For Profit Corporation Act of 1986. Provides that an officer or director of a corporation organized under the Act that receives any State funds may not knowingly hire, or seek to influence the employment or promotion of, a relative for a compensated position within the corporation. Defines "relative" to include a father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, great uncle, great aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, husband, wife, grandfather, grandmother, grandson, granddaughter, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandfather-in-law, grandmother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepson, stepdaughter, stepbrother, stepsister, half brother, half sister, fiance, fiancee, and the mother, father, grandfather, or grandmother of a fiance or fiancee. Effective July 1, 2012.

1    AN ACT concerning business.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The General Not For Profit Corporation Act of
51986 is amended by adding Section 108.90 as follows:
 
6    (805 ILCS 105/108.90 new)
7    Sec. 108.90. Nepotism.
8    (a) An officer or director of a corporation organized under
9this Act that receives any State funds may not knowingly hire,
10or seek to influence the employment or promotion of, a relative
11for a compensated position within the corporation.
12    (b) For the purposes of this Section, "relative" means a
13father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt,
14great uncle, great aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, husband,
15wife, grandfather, grandmother, grandson, granddaughter,
16father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law,
17grandfather-in-law, grandmother-in-law, brother-in-law,
18sister-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepson, stepdaughter,
19stepbrother, stepsister, half brother, half sister, fiance,
20fiancee, and the mother, father, grandfather, or grandmother of
21a fiance or fiancee.
 
22    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1,
