SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

65 ILCS 5/11-102-20 new

Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that in the case of a disputed issue, airports for municipalities of 500,000 or more shall work with all interested parties, including but not limited to the State's public utilities, to reach a resolution.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning local government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 1. Findings. The General Assembly makes the following findings:

(1) Public safety at O'Hare International Airport and Midway International Airport is of the utmost importance.

(2) Ensuring safe and reliable operations at O'Hare and Midway also protects the economic interests of the citizens of this State.

(3) In order to ensure continued safe and reliable operations, O'Hare and Midway should be encouraged to work with interested parties, including the State's public utilities, to reach mutually agreeable resolutions of disputed issues.

Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by adding Section 11-102-20 as follows:

Sec. 11-102-20. Resolutions of disputed issues. In the case of a disputed issue, airports for municipalities of 500,000 or more shall work with all interested parties, including but not limited to the State's public utilities, to reach a resolution.
