SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/5-3  from Ch. 122, par. 5-3

    Amends the School Code. Provides that if there are 3 or more elementary school districts in a township that are subject to the jurisdiction of the trustees of schools of that township, then no 2 trustees shall reside in the same elementary school district (instead of providing that if there are 3 or more school districts in a township that are subject to the jurisdiction of the trustees of schools of that township, then no 2 trustees shall reside, when elected, in the same school district), with an exception.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section
55-3 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/5-3)  (from Ch. 122, par. 5-3)
7    Sec. 5-3. Eligibility of trustees. No person shall be
8eligible to the office of trustee of schools who is not a
9resident of the township and at least 18 years of age. If there
10are 3 or more elementary school districts in a township which
11are subject to the jurisdiction of the trustees of schools of
12that township, no 2 trustees shall reside, when elected, in the
13same elementary school district; except that in townships in
14which at least 90% of the electors reside in one elementary
15school district which is subject to the jurisdiction of the
16trustees of schools of that township, this restriction shall
17not apply. No person shall be eligible to the office of trustee
18of schools and school director or school board member at the
19same time.
