SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Margaret J. "Peggie" Stromberg of
4Marengo, who passed away on February 11, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Peggie Stromberg was born in Urbana to Richard W.
6and Marjorie A. Thomas on August 28, 1945; she grew up on her
7parents' farm near What Cheer, Iowa; she attended Drake
8University in Des Moines, Iowa; she married Alan F. Stromberg
9of Chicago on March 2, 1974; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Peggie Stromberg spent the first decade of her
11marriage at home, taking pride in providing a loving household
12and raising her children to be kind, responsible citizens; as
13they became more independent, she worked at Marengo High School
14as an aide, spent several years as a reporter and editor at
15local newspapers, and coached her son Eric's winning soccer
16teams; she spent 22 years as the executive director of the
17Elgin Public Museum of Natural History and Anthropology until
18her recent retirement; she established a reputation as a
19respected member of the museum community throughout the Midwest
20and, nationally, served on industry committees and spoke at
21conferences; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Peggie Stromberg served for 25 years as a board

1member and president of the Marengo Public Library as well as
2the Northern Illinois Library System; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Peggie Stromberg was an avid reader, a lifelong
4learner, and a talented seamstress and quilter; she was known
5for her wry wit and forthright opinions; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Peggie Stromberg is survived by her husband, Alan;
7her son, Eric; her daughter, Meghan; her grandchildren,
8Sabrina, Magnus, and Estelle; her stepson, Kenneth; her
9step-grandchildren, Ryan Finney, Stephan Lefebvre, Kelsey
10Stromberg, and Caitlin Ashdown; her great-grandchildren,
11Jakob, Mikah, Ryleigh, Carter, Evelyn, and Aisley; her mother,
12Marjorie; her brothers, Steven, James, and Michael; and her
13numerous nephews and nieces; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Margaret J. "Peggie" Stromberg and extend our sincere
17condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
18her; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Peggie Stromberg as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
