1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate the Kiwanis Club of Elgin
4 on the occasion of its 100th anniversary in 2020; and

5     WHEREAS, The Kiwanis Club of Elgin was organized on
6 February 19, 1920 and chartered on March 9, 1920; and

7     WHEREAS, The Kiwanis Club of Elgin is part of the worldwide
8 organization of men and women who share the challenge of
9 community and world improvement; and

10     WHEREAS, The Kiwanis Club of Elgin has contributed to the
11 Kiwanis District Neuroscience Research Foundation and Kiwanis
12 International Projects to eliminate iodine deficiency
13 worldwide and to eliminate maternal neonatal tetanus
14 worldwide; and

15     WHEREAS, The Kiwanis Club of Elgin has partnered with the
16 Gail Borden Public Library District to create and maintain the
17 ReaderShip Van for preschool children and purchase the
18 bookmobile for all library district residents; and

19     WHEREAS, The Kiwanis Club of Elgin collaborated to create
20 Kiwanis Park on National Street in Elgin; and

1     WHEREAS, The Kiwanis Club of Elgin has contributed over one
2 million dollars to local organizations serving children;
3 therefore, be it

4     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
5 HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6 we congratulate the Kiwanis Club of Elgin on its 100th
7 anniversary, and we wish them many more successful years; and
8 be it further

9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the Kiwanis Club of Elgin as a symbol of our
11 respect and esteem.
