HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Department of Illinois Marine Corps League is celebrating its 75th Annual Convention in Raymond in June 2019; and

WHEREAS, The Department of Illinois Marine Corps League is an organization that was chartered by Congress in 1937, was founded by Major General John A. LeJeune, and held its first annual convention in 1944; and

WHEREAS, The purpose of the Department of Illinois Marine Corps League is to preserve the traditions and to promote the interests of the United States Marine Corps and to band those who are now serving in the United States Marine Corps and those who have been honorably discharged from the service together in fellowship that they may effectively promote the ideals of American Freedom and Democracy; and

WHEREAS, The organization's motto is, "We are here to honor, respect and assist all past, present and future Marines and the country we love"; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Department of Illinois Marine Corps League on celebrating their 75th Annual Convention in June 2019; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Department of Illinois Marine Corps League as an expression of our esteem and respect.
