HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Marc Parker on being named the 2018-19 Illinois High School Association's (IHSA) Official of the Year for boys basketball; and

WHEREAS, To be considered for the honor of Official of the Year, an official must first be nominated by an Officials Association recognized by the IHSA; IHSA staff members then vote on the winners based on factors such as character, skill as an official, and levels worked in the IHSA State Series; 22 Officials of the Year are selected in various sports; and

WHEREAS, Marc Parker is a lifelong resident of the Collinsville area; he graduated from Collinsville High School in 1983, where he was a three-sport athlete; and

WHEREAS, Marc Parker attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he participated in their men's basketball and tennis programs; after graduating, he served as a volunteer basketball coach at Collinsville High School from 1990 to 1994 and Good Shepherd Grade School in Collinsville from 2000 to 2010; and

WHEREAS, Marc Parker has been a licensed high school basketball official for over 30 years; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Marc Parker on being named IHSA's Official of the Year for boys basketball, and we thank him for committing his time and talent to local athletes for more than 30 years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Marc Parker as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
