HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Eduardo "Eddie" Garcia on receiving the 33rd Annual Charles E. Piper Award; and

WHEREAS, Each year, the Berwyn Development Corporation selects an individual who best exemplifies the spirit of one of Berwyn's original developers, Charles E. Piper; and

WHEREAS, Eddie Garcia was born in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico and is a graduate of St. Joseph High School; he is a first generation Mexican-American born to proud immigrant parents, Florencia Rosas and Aristeo E. Garcia; the Garcia family migrated from Mexico City to the United States in 1989 when Eddie was only five years old; and

WHEREAS, At the age of 21, Eddie Garcia attained his real estate license; he sold his first property six months later; in 2012, he founded Realty of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, In 2017, Realty of Chicago closed $126 million in sales and has grown to over 80 agents with three offices located throughout the Chicago area; and

WHEREAS, Each year, Eddie Garcia and Realty of Chicago give back to the communities of Berwyn and Cicero, providing thousands of children with backpacks and school supplies, feeding over 15,000 people on Thanksgiving Day, and providing scholarships to high school graduates; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Eduardo "Eddie" Garcia on receiving the 33rd Annual Charles E. Piper Award, and we wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Eddie Garcia as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
