1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate the Church of St. Patrick
4 in Ruma on the occasion of its 200th anniversary on September
5 9, 2018; and

6     WHEREAS, In 1818, the Henry O'Hara family donated 100 acres
7 of land for church purposes; in 1826, a log church was built,
8 and in 1854, the present church was completed; and

9     WHEREAS, St. Patrick is the oldest English speaking
10 Catholic parish in the State of Illinois; and

11     WHEREAS, St. Patrick is currently served by Monsignor
12 Dennis Schaefer; therefore, be it

13     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14 HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
15 congratulate the Church of St. Patrick on its 200th
16 anniversary, and we wish it many more wonderful years; and be
17 it further

18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to the Church of St. Patrick as a symbol of our
20 respect and esteem.
