SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Allie J. "Jay" Meyers of Rock Island, who passed away on February 12, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Allie Meyers was born on January 14, 1924 in Louisiana, Missouri; his parents were Rudolph and Alice (nee Pitzer) Meyers; he married Gloria Gibbs-Chambers on September 1, 1967; and

WHEREAS, Allie Meyers served his country as a member of the United States Coast Guard during World War II, serving on the USS Ricketts; and

WHEREAS, Allie Meyers was employed as an operating engineer at the former Moline Consumers for many years; and

WHEREAS, Allie Meyers was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals; and

WHEREAS, Allie Meyers was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Pat; and 5 siblings, Everett, Clay, Lorene, Mildred, and Charles; and

WHEREAS, Allie Meyers is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Gloria; 5 children, Joe, Mike, Susie, Kathy, and Teri; his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Nellie and Mary; and his many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Tom; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Allie J. "Jay" Meyers; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Allie Meyers as an expression of our sympathy.
