SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary Ellen Carter of North Chicago, who passed away on March 2, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Carter was born on May 25, 1926, in Anderson, South Carolina; her parents were Sylvester D. and Julia Clinkscales; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Carter was last employed as a housekeeping supervisor at the Veterans Administration Hospital; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Carter accepted Christ and attended the First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church in North Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Carter was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Sylvester, Martin, and Robert Clinkscales; her grandson, Michael "Snip" McBride; and her brothers-in-law, Raleigh, William, and Charles; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Carter is survived by her children, Waymon Callahan, Sylvester (Dorethia) Callahan, Joyce (Charles) Bean, Jo Ann (Michael) McBride, and Lou Ellen (Robert) Burton; her 24 grandchildren; her 84 great-grandchildren; her 44 great-great grandchildren; her siblings, Isabella Moss, Josephine Blow, and Doris Patterson; and her many nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Mary Ellen Carter; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Ellen Carter as an expression of our sympathy.
