SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James Beavers; and

WHEREAS, James Beavers was born on September 23, 1937 to Osa Beavers-Walker; and

WHEREAS, As a young man, James Beavers moved from his home of Cropwell, Alabama to Chicago and matriculated at Englewood High School; he then continued his studies at Mechanics College; and

WHEREAS, On December 29, 1957, James Beavers was united in holy matrimony with Doris Murphy; together, they nurtured a unique love of more than 53 years and raised 4 children, James Beavers, Jr., Valerie A. Beavers, Brenda G. Beavers, and Stanford L. Beavers; and

WHEREAS, James Beavers was a dedicated, compassionate, caring, and nurturing father to his children, with a determination to make every day a great day; and

WHEREAS, James Beavers and his wife shared an ambition and talent for entrepreneurism; he operated a successful Sinclair Gas Station and subsequently founded Busy Beaver Auto Construction, a successful business for more than 4 decades; and

WHEREAS, James Beavers joined the fellowship of Mount Carmel Ridge M.B. Church, where he served as a Trustee and contributed to many other ministries; and

WHEREAS, In 1993, James Beavers rededicated his life to the Lord at St. Sabina Catholic Church, where he continued to grow in the Lord; and

WHEREAS, James Beavers was a committed grandfather to Brandon G. Beavers, Sr., Blair C. Matthews, Bradley B. Matthews, and Desiree A. Beavers and the loving great-grandfather of Brandon G. Beavers, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, After more than 73 years of providing his family, friends, and community the gift of his love and optimistic approach to life, James Beavers entered his eternal life on October 5, 2010; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of James Beavers; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James Beavers as a sign of the State's high regard for his faithful service to his family and community.
