SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert J. Rodriguez of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Waukegan, who passed away on October 29, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Robert Rodriguez was born on March 15, 1945 in Waukeshaw, Wisconsin; his parents were Lewis and Consuelo; he was a graduate of North Chicago High School; and

WHEREAS, Robert Rodriguez was employed at the North Chicago Veterans Affairs Medical Center for 25 years before retiring; he was also a member of the American GI Forum, where he acted as secretary treasurer before relocating to Las Vegas, and was active in the Union at the VA; and

WHEREAS, Robert Rodriguez was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, Robert Rodriguez was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Consuelo; his sister, Genevive Louis; and his brother, Daniel Rodriguez; and

WHEREAS, Robert Rodriguez is survived by his brothers, Raymond Rodriguez and Louis (Esther) Rodriguez; his nieces, Leslie Drywater, Lisa Rodriguez, Nicole Nipple, and Marixsa Rodriguez; his nephews, Machismo Rodriguez, Daniel Rodriguez Jr., and Louis Rodriguez II; and his many cousins, friends, and great-nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Robert J. Rodriguez; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert J. Rodriguez as an expression of our sympathy.
