1 SENATE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The Village of Westville will celebrate the 100th
3 anniversary of its Labor Day parade on September 6, 2010; and

4     WHEREAS, The parade is a joint celebration between the
5 Westville Lions Club and St. Mary's Church in Westville; and

6     WHEREAS, The Westville Labor Day parade has the distinction
7 of being the oldest continuous Labor Day parade in the State of
8 Illinois; and

9     WHEREAS, The Westville Labor Day parade also currently
10 boasts the record for the east central Illinois Labor Day
11 parade with the most entries, with over 150 different
12 participants; therefore, be it

13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that, in recognition of the
15 100th anniversary of the Village of Westville's annual Labor
16 Day tradition, we proclaim September 6, 2010 as "Westville Day"
17 in the State of Illinois; and be it further

18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to the Village of Westville, the Westville Lions
20 Club, and St. Mary's Church in Westville.
