SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas Couri of East Peoria, who passed away on April 10, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Couri was born on March 24, 1924, in Peoria; his parents were Mike and Kemla (Farrah) Couri; he married Jeanette Kouri on May 4, 1948, in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Couri was graduate of Spalding Institute; he earned a Purple Heart during World War II while serving his country in the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Couri was a co-owner of Couri's Food Town in East Peoria and later Couri's Fast License Service; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Couri was a lifetime member of the Itoo Society and a member of Sacred Heart Church; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Couri was preceded in death by his parents; his 4 brothers; and his 3 sisters; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Couri is survived by his wife; his sons, Michael (Vickie) and Robert (Kathy); his daughters, Karen (Fred) Clark, Janice (Ray) Martin, Tricia (Jeff) Lambrich, Debra (Bill) Spears, Jeannine (George) Jacob, Beth (Ed) Olehy, Sue Couri, and Cindy (Lester) Behrends; his 23 grandchildren; his 6 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Robert (Helen) and Mike Jr. (Margaret); and his sister, Cecilia Maroon; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Thomas Couri; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Thomas Couri as an expression of our sympathy.
