SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate were saddened to learn of the death of John J. "Jack" Kent, who passed away on August 4, 2009; and

WHEREAS, The last twenty years of his life he served as the Facilities Manager at St. Margaret Mary Parish, where he kept the Activity Center properly scheduled, heated, cooled, clean, and inviting to all those people who came together to eat, to pray, to mourn, to celebrate, and to relax, all those things necessary to build a vibrant community; and

WHEREAS,For twenty-five years the cast of "Snack Theater" was indebted to him for his patience in solving all the technical problems involved in putting on a musical production; and

WHEREAS, Jack played tight end at Iowa State University, and was invited to try out for the Dallas Cowboys; and

WHEREAS, Jack loved life, was truly Mother Nature's son, a country boy at heart, and a real cowboy in South Dakota; and

WHEREAS, Jack had a deep and abiding love for his family, and especially his wife, Julie; and

WHEREAS, Jack is survived by his wife of 46 years, Julie, nee Keuth; he was the loving father of Janmarie Kent, Julianne (Randy) Weiss, Joseph (Jackie) Kent, and Jessica (Francis) Corrigan; he was the adored "Papa" of Erin Mackin, Melissa and Danielle Weiss, Jillian, Jacey, and Jackson Kent, and Francis and Patrick Corrigan; he was the fond brother of Mike (Maxine) Kent, Barbara (Bob) Dewell, and the late Gary (Linda) Kent; and he was the devoted son-in-law of Jeanne Keuth; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of John J. "Jack" Kent; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John J. "Jack" Kent as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
