SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Geraldine A. "Gerrie" Parr of Champaign, who passed away on February 12, 2010; and

WHEREAS, She was born on July 28th, 1946 in Cadillac, Michigan; she graduated from Waukegan Township High School, class of 1964, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, class of 1968, with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology; and

WHEREAS, Before her retirement, she served as Auditor of Champaign County; she was also the Chairperson of the Champaign County Democratic Party for 10 years; in addition to politicking, she spent her time skiing, sailing, reading, and cooking; and

WHEREAS, She loved to travel and did so extensively in the last several years, including trips to Tahiti, China, France, Peru, and Egypt; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Kurt McKenzie; her mother, Dorothy Parr; and her brother-in-law, Jerry Altman; and

WHEREAS, Geraldine Parr is survived by her daughter, Daniellinda Schooley; her father and step-mother, Dan and Mavon Parr; and her sister, Linda Altman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Geraldine Parr; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Geraldine Parr as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
